The pride that we have for our fraternity and the love that we share with our Brothers are real. Words cannot really do justice to communicate the amazing feelings that we experience from partnering with our Brothers to positively change the world around us. That said, when you see an Illinois Freemason, know that he takes pride in propelling our Illinois Freemasonry Family and communities forward by simply performing one loving act after another.
With approximately 57,000 Brothers in Illinois which makes us the 4th largest (by membership size) Masonic jurisdiction in the United States, together we can accelerate the spreading of our great message and shine a positive light on Freemasonry. How can you help? On your personal social media pages and in live conversations, share our quality information and content with other Brothers, family members and friends. Let’s use the power of the Internet and social media to promote relevant and accurate information about Freemasonry. Similar to our Brothers throughout history, Freemasonry will gain luster from us, its members, and the people in our communities will know Illinois Freemasonry for “who we really are” and the valuable work that we do in making good men better, supporting our families and serving others!
This act stands today as remarkable proof of the undeniable truths of brotherly love and affection which we espouse. This momentous act serves as an example of how our fraternity seeks to unite the hearts of its initiates and thereby cement a more civil society. I am supremely proud of the brothers who guided this change and offer my sincere gratitude for their devotion to true Masonic values.
As Masons, we enjoy unique fraternal experiences including the fellowship with good men of strong character, learning from one another, and banding together to “relieve the suffering of others”. Fundamentally, we are inspired by men like Brother Dave who are living Masonry each and every day; it is the reason that we honor him tonight. By following his example, along with many of you, we will be a beacon light in society today for a good man seeking to “become a better version of himself.”
Throughout the history of Freemasonry, the “wisdom of the ages” has been primarily passed along from mouth to ear. Whether from Intender (teacher) to Candidate (student) or Brother to Brother, the conversations held between these men forged our fraternal bonds and provided the foundation of our love and respect for one another. Regardless of our age, financial, ethnic, religious, etc. backgrounds, we promote a common purpose and mission as Freemasons - to represent and promote a quality life filled with honor, integrity, brotherly love, freedom, equality, tolerance, learning, and service to mankind.
