The Masonic Family Health Foundation Feeds Nurses

On Saturday, Oct. 10, members of the Masonic Family Health Foundation delivered 220 boxed lunches to the nurses and staff of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

According to MFHF board member, Bro. Mark Nokes, “Epic Lunch was developed to recognize to our often unseen in-house Advocate front line workers and staff for their continuous commitment and dedication to their patients.”

The lunches were a welcome relief while Advocate Medical Center’s and Aurora’s medical systems were integrated and merged into one centralized charting system making it easier to access medical records and information throughout Chicagoland and Milwaukee.

The lunches were from Anne Sathers, purchased with donations from various Masonic bodies including the Scottish Rite, Valley of Chicago; the Masonic Secretaries Association; Paul Revere Lodge # 998; Chi-Ill Grottos of Chicago; and Medinah Shrine Therapy Dog Club.

Animal-Assisted Therapy, or emotional support dogs, helps patients better manage health challenges during their recovery while at the hospitals. Visits are coordinated by their Teams for Shriner’s Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and for special events.
