Most Worshipful Grand Master

Brother Joseph B. Ferrell

Most Worshipful Brother Joseph B. Ferrell is the Grand Master of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois. He was elected to that oﬀice in October 2025. He is responsible for leading Illinois Freemasonry which consists of the fraternal operations of the 4th largest Masonic grand jurisdiction (by membership size) in the United States and the charities operations of the several Illinois Masonic Charities organizations.

Brother Ferrell has enjoyed an active Masonic journey spanning more than 17 years of service, dedication and leadership to our ancient and honorable fraternity. Azure La Grange Lodge No. 770 in Riverside, IL is his mother lodge. Before the lodges merged, Brother Ferrell served as Worshipful Master of both La Grange Lodge No. 770 and Azure Lodge No. 1153. Also, he served as Treasurer on multiple occasions. Additionally, he holds plural and honorary membership in several lodges. Working closely with the Brethren and lodges in the 10th Northeastern Masonic District in the state, Brother Ferrell served as the District Deputy Grand Master.

In the Appendant Masonic organizations, Brother Ferrell has been an active member including receiving notable distinctions and honors. For example, in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, he was recognized for his dedication and service as an honorary member of the Supreme Council 33°.
