Illinois Masonic Outreach Services (IMOS)

IMOS allows Illinois Freemasons to fulfill their Masonic oath of coming to the aid of a Brother, their spouse, widow, and orphans in times of necessity.

Every year in the U.S., thousands of children become lost. A few are victims of abduction. The Freemasons of Illinois hold and fund identification workshops for families all around the state to help them find and prevent victims of abduction.

As Freemasons, we strive to always further our knowledge to better understand our place in the universe and become better men. That’s why each year, Illinois Freemasons award Masons and non-Masons alike scholarships to support attaining higher education. We aim to help individuals better themselves through the pursuit of knowledge.

Masonic Scholarships

  • IMCAP has partnered with Southern Masonic Lodges to provide the N. G. Cowen Scholarship for young adults in small towns in southern Illinois who are planning to attend or are attending training in a vocational or technical field.

    The N. G. Cowen Scholarship was created in honor of Master Mason Norredden Gene Cowen’s memory by his wife.

  • Illinois Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Masons provide scholarships to help individuals better themselves through the pursuit of knowledge.

    The Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Illinois Scholarship is designed for children or grandchildren of members of an Illinois Scottish Rite Valley.

  • The Robert B. Perkins scholarship is designed for relatives of Illinois Scottish Rite Valley Members enrolled in a full-time, accredited college.

  • The Leon M. Abbott Scholarship was created in honor of Leon M. Abbott, Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite, NMJ (1921-1932). This scholarship is for members or their family members of the SRNMJ or members of youth organizations sponsored by the SRNMJ.

  • To qualify, applicants must reside in the state of Illinois, be a relative of a Scottish Rite Mason, and attend Illinois Wesleyan University.

Masonic Youth Groups

  • Applicants must be an active member of DeMolay, Job’s Daughters, and/or Rainbow Girls. This scholarship is administered by The Grand Lodge of Illinois, A. F. & A. M.

    A scholarship recipient desiring to renew their scholarship for the ensuing year must forward a letter of intent declaring their desire to continue as a scholarship recipient to the scholarship committee.

    This information must be postmarked by April 1st and must be accompanied by their most recent transcript available. The letter of intent to renew should be mailed to the address below and postmarked no later than April 1st:

  • The Grand Lodge of A.F. & A.M. of Illinois and Scottish Rite Masons provide scholarships to help individuals better themselves through the pursuit of knowledge.


    The Health Career Care Fields scholarship is created for students entering the healthcare field (nursing, physical or occupational therapy, radiology, anesthesiology, etc.)

  • The Sherwood and Evelyn Kresin scholarship is designated for undergraduate or graduate students in any course of study.

  • The applicant must be pursuing a graduate degree in nursing or related health services for children serviced under Public Law: 94-142, within the state of Illinois.
